General
1. The Clerk of the Scales reported that Apprentice R. Kulloo (AFRICAN ROCK) was
weighed out at 56.5kg, thereby not claiming any allowance which was contrary to the
information provided to the Stipendiary Stewards at declaration time. Further, Apprentice
R. Kulloo confirmed that he had informed the Assistant Trainer, U. Nagadoo, that he would
claim 2kgs. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 2,500 was imposed.
2. Prior to the running of this race, Trainer A. Rahmathulla advised the Board that his
instructions to Jockey A. Correira Da Silva were to bounce to lead on ITALIAN WAY, or
else sit close to pace. This change of tactic was disseminated to the public.

Stewards Reports
1. Leaving the stalls, ITALIAN WAY (A. Correira Da Silva) shifted out, causing POWER
TOWER (R. Boutanive) to shift out onto MASTEROFALLISURVEY (G. Aucharuz) who
in turn inconvenienced HIGH VOLTAGE (M. Sonaram).
2. LE QUARTIER (B. Sooful) was pulling in the running.
3. Jockey R. Joorawon (CLOUDED HILL) was queried regarding his riding in the early part
of the race. He stated that his intention was to cross the horses on his inside to sit second
behind ITALIAN WAY (A. Correira Da Silva). He did not insist while going uphill leaving
the 1300m, and preferred to take a hold and go closer to the fence which was not possible
due to the presence of horses on his inside and he was only left with the option to drop
further back. He further explained that leaving the 700m, his mount failed to keep pace with
the rest of the field and was disappointing. The horse was referred to the Veterinary Surgeon
for examination.
4. Apprentice R. Kulloo (AFRICAN ROCK) and Assistant Trainer U. Nagadoo appeared
before the Board in relation to his riding in the early part of the race. Apprentice R. Kulloo
explained that his instructions were to try to lead. He stated that after jumping slow, he still
tried to follow the instructions but his mount failed to muster enough speed and had a
tendency to hang out from the 1300m to the 1000m.
Assistant Trainer, U. Nagadoo, confirmed that he wanted his horse to lead despite its wide
draw but he was also of the view that Apprentice R. Kulloo should have taken a hold at the
1400m after jumping out and found a position closer to the fence behind CLOUDED HILL
(R. Joorawon) instead of insisting to go forward in a wide position. Apprentice R. Kulloo
further advised after leaving the 1300m, his horse was hanging out and was wide.
After considering their explanation, Apprentice R. Kulloo was issued with a reprimand for
showing poor judgement and Assistant Trainer, U. Nagadoo, who represented Trainer SP
Nagadoo, was also issued with a reprimand for not being clear enough in his instructions.
5. Jockey A. Correira Da Silva (ITALIAN WAY) appeared before the Board, was shown the
patrol films of the race and advised against the practice of using his whip down the shoulder
of his horse while in the drawn position. Jockey A. Correira Da Silva was issued with a
reprimand.

1. Prior to the running of this race, Trainer A. Sewdyal advised the Board that his instructions
to Jockey M. Sonaram were to test for the lead on CLEVELAND. This change of tactic
was disseminated to the public

Starting Reports
1. Leaving the stalls, LOVE ON TIME (K. Ramsamy) and BESTDAY OF MYLIFE (B.
Sooful) brushed.
2. PORTRAYAL (R. Joorawon) was slow.

Stewards Reports
1. At the 450m crossing, BESTDAY OF MYLIFE (B. Sooful) stumbled, unbalancing its rider,
who was dislodged. Jockey R. Joorawon (PORTRAYAL), who was placed on the outside
of BESTDAY OF MYLIFE, took evasive action with his horse.
2. Jockey M. Sonaram (CLEVELAND) was reprimanded for allowing his horse to shift out
from the 200m under continual use of the whip.
3. Jockey A. Correira Da Silva (TICKET TO CAIRO) shifted ground under continual use of
the whip in the last 50m and took the running of CLEVELAND (M. Sonaram) which was
eased.

in the concluding stages.
6. Jockey M. Sonaram (BELLA FIORINO) appeared before the Board in relation to his riding
in the early part of the race, particularly at the 1200m when he could have secured the fence
in the lead. He explained that he was nearly there but ROYAL SOVEREIGN (P. Horil) was
insisting on his inside where he believed there was not enough room for him to shift without
interfering with ROYAL SOVEREIGN. The Board noted his explanations, however, he
was warned that this part of the race was of concern for the Stipendiary Stewards.
