Taka signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 32.4, in that he weighed out at more than 1kg over the weight at which he was carded to ride. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed. 5. Jockey K. Ramsamy reported that GONTRAVELIN did not stride out freely in the running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 6. In view of the performance of SOCKEROO (N. Batchameah), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 7. Apprentice N. Batchameah signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 22.12, in that he failed to present himself to the Clerk of Scales and be in the jockey’s quarters at

5. SECRET OASIS (R. Perez) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. 6. Jockey R. Perez (SECRET OASIS) appeared before the Board and was afforded an opportunity to place on record any factors which in his view contributed to the defeat of SECRET OASIS. In this regard, he explained to the Board that after jumping well and obtaining a comfortable lead, SECRET OASIS had raced greenly in the running at various points but in particular at the 1100m when this gelding shifted out after racing over the crossing and having to be directed in and, in the concluding stages, when it was hanging in. Additionally, he explained that SECRET OASIS losing a shoe had, in his view, materially impacted the performance of this gelding. When questioned regarding whether SECRET OASIS had stayed the distance after the speed Jockey R. Perez had gone in the race, he explained that in his view SECRET OASIS had certainly stayed the distance and from his knowledge of the horse, the speed was comfortable. Jockey R. Perez stated in closing that had SECRET OASIS not lost a shoe in his view, it would have won the race. The Board noted the explanations of Jockey R. Perez.
